LOOKING FOR EMIGRANTS FROM NIJMEGEN, THE NETHERLANDS |
Stories from former Nijmegen residents around the world. Dear reader, In view of the celebration of 2000 years Nijmegen, we have conceived a plan to invite former Nijmegen residents to relate their story and to publish this on our website. We are especially interested in Nijmegen residents who have exchanged the city of Nijmegen for a new existence abroad - within Europe, or also without, as in the 1950's many Nijmegen residents emigrated to countries like the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, New-Zealand or South-Africa. Former Nijmegen residents are living all over the world, and we would like to hear their story! We would like to invite you to send us your story. Possible subjects to write about could be:
Your letter or email can be as long or short as you want, and of course you are free to write what you want. It is our intention to publish your story in a new section of our website, which we would like to fill with a fine collection of personal stories about Nijmegen and the people who once lived there. All our visitors will be able to enjoy these stories, and we hope they will bring back many memories. At the same time, this may be an opportunity for you to get (back) in touch with old friends and acquaintances as well as new residents of Nijmegen with an interest in your experiences. Your story will be interesting to read for us and for all residents of Nijmegen: you have once lived in this city, have taken decisions and made choices, and have built up a new existence as a former resident of Nijmegen. We would love to hear about your experiences. We do not lay down any conditions to your story; we would feel privileged if you would share it with us. If you know of any other former Nijmegen residents, please forward this letter to them and invite them to participate in our project. I hope to hear from you, and send you my best wishes from a festive Nijmegen! Henk Kersten |
