The Netherlands American Society (NAS) welcomes membership applications from all persons who have an active interest in the Netherlands. Although NAS is intended for those who reside in the Southern California region, particularly in and around the Los Angeles area, membership is open to persons living anywhere.
To apply for membership, print out our Membership Application and mail the completed form along with a check for the appropriate dues amount, payable to NAS, to the address on the application.
Membership annual dues are $30.00 per person or $50.00 per couple payable by the first of March each year. New members admitted after the first of October shall pay, for the remainder of the year, $20.00 per person or $30.00 per couple.
After the application is reviewed and approved by the NAS Board of Directors - just a formality - you will receive a welcome letter and other NAS material. The board meets once a month, except August.
Membership entitles you to attend the NAS events and to receive the NAS News publication.
All the NAS events, except on rare occasions, take place within the Los Angeles area. The events are monthly and generally have a theme, such as the New Year, Queen's Birthday, Annual Dinner-Dance, etc., all typically including a happy hour with appetizers, followed by dinner. There is an affordable donation, which varies, required of members and guests for attending each of these events.
The NAS News is published six times a year and contains interesting articles written by members and other contributors, a summary of the previous NAS events with photographs, details of the next events and reservation forms, special announcements and other items of interest.
Members also philanthropically support a fund, created by NAS in the memory of Hans Hienkins. From this fund, an annual donation is made to the Netherlands Social Service Organization (NESSO) and/or other charitable organization(s) at the discretion of the NAS Board of Directors.
